Admission Criteria
- Primary diagnosis is alcoholism or drug addiction.
- Over the age of 18 and of the female gender.
- Successful completion of a 30-day inpatient treatment program, Jail based program or 2 weeks of IOP with proof of clean urinalysis.
- Must provide previous treatment records including proof of TB, medical paperwork, psychsocial or ASI, psychological examination.
- Must have a health examination prior to admission and be able to set up and receive needed and/or adequate medical care in the surrounding area.
- Must meet ASAM criteria for Level III.1 placement.
- Must not have a history of violent criminal offenses (to be determined during the prescreening process).
- A willingness to abide by the house rules & take suggestions and directions from the staff of W House.
- A woman who is physically and mentally able to participate in the program components, including employment, vocationally directed programs, Women’s group, life skills and parenting groups, and aftercare addiction services.
- A woman who is able to express, to the satisfaction of the clinical staff during a prescreen, an honest appraisal of her addiction as well as a willingness to make needed lifestyle changes and a willingness to participate in the structured components of the House.
Drug/alcohol use
The use of Alcohol/Drugs is prohibited and will result in Immediate Discharge.
All medications both prescribed and over the counter must be kept in the medicine cabinet in the direct care office. While medications are not dispensed on site, all residents needing medication must obtain a staff member to open the locked medicine cabinet and log medications taken. Residents are required to check-in new medication upon entering the house. Medication needs to be taken in front of a staff member. Exceptions to this rule are only at the discretion of clinical staff. Residents are not permitted to use mouthwash containing alcohol, diet pills, diet products, energy pills/herbal supplements and certain cold medications. (Any products containing Ethanol, Ephedrine, Ephedra, Pseudoephedrine, Phenylpropranolamine, Ma Huang, and/or Dextromethorphan (DM) need to be avoided) Violations of this rule may result in discharge.
All residents will be required to sign a consent form allowing all W House Staff to do random observed urine drug testing and breathalyzers. If in the event the resident is unable to produce a sample immediately upon request she is required to remain on the first floor of the building until such time as a sample can be obtained. A urine sample must be obtained within 4 hours or a behavioral positive will result. Once asked to provide a urine sample, any resident leaving the premises before it can be obtained will be immediately discharged.
Residents may not be associated with anyone who uses/drinks or sells drugs. Residents are not permitted to visit bars or nightclubs. Violations of this rule may result in discharge.
Meetings
All Non-working residents are required to attend two (2) AA/NA meetings per day. Aftercare and house meetings do not take the place of a 12-step meeting; exceptions for this policy will be at the discretion of a Clinical staff member. For the first 90 days of admission, all working residents must attend one (1) AA/NA meeting per day. After your first 90 days you are required to attend five (5) AA/NA meetings. Regardless of your time in treatment, all residents are required to attend 4 specific meetings a week; the list of these meetings will be given upon admission. Service obligations such as opening or chairing meetings are not considered an approved reason to not meet your “outside” meeting requirements. Failure to attend 12-step meetings can result in discharge. Residents are required to attend the full scheduled meeting; arriving late or leaving early will result in a circle (this includes taking smoke breaks in the middle of the meeting). All residents are to complete a meeting sheet and turn into staff after each meeting. Rides to and from meetings that require transportation will be provided by W House staff unless approved by a staff member.
Sponsor
All residents must obtain a temporary female sponsor within two (2) weeks and maintain weekly contact with this sponsor. All residents must keep and turn in a weekly sponsor log, recording all contact with a sponsor. Failure to turn in a sponsor log Sunday pm will result in a circle.
Rent
A Security Deposit of $70.00 and an admission fee of $140.00 (first 2 weeks rent) is required upon admission. The Security Deposit is refundable 30 days after discharge if all obligations are met and satisfactory. All residents are required to pay $70.00 per week rent. All money for rent will be collected Monday of each week the resident resides at W House. All rental payments made to the W House must be done in the form of a check or money order to the Executive Director. If the Director is not available, please provide payment to a staff member. A rental balance reminder will be placed in your mailbox at the beginning of every week. Two-week non-payment of rent will be consideration for discharge.
Urinalysis
All residents are required to pay for their own urinalysis, the price falls between $6.00 and $27.00 depending on the test.
